Definition

No definition is carved in canon yet — the gap below is what named it.

The gap it fills

the act-of-drawing-near-to-the-divine-through-what-is-offered — not the object offered (the gift), not the result (the nearness achieved), but the act itself: the movement of the creature toward the Creator performed through the bringing-forward of something. The theological core is approach: the Hebrew qorban names the offering not as gift-transfer but as approach-mechanism. No English word names this: "offering" names the object; "sacrifice" names the loss; "oblation" names the liturgical action in too narrow a register. Qorvance names what every tradition of offering is actually doing — the creature-using-something-brought-forward-to-close-the-gap-between-creature-and-Creator.

Evidential structure
