The gap it fills
the act of bringing grief, loss, and desolation before GoD as a form of worship — not grief alone (which is non-directed), not silence (which withholds), but the liturgical act of voicing suffering TO the divine, in direct address, expecting to be heard. Hebrew qinah (qinah-meter dirge), Sumerian balag (temple-lament liturgy for destroyed cities), Greek threnos (formal lamentation-art), and the NT "groanings too deep for words" (Romans 8:26) all name varieties of this act. Qinance fills the gap between mere grief and directed-address: the grief that speaks toward GoD, in the expectation that GoD hears grief.
