The gap it fills
the act of praise-that-declares-greatness-by-shining-it-out — not polite appreciation, not formal honor, but the explosive acknowledgment that something is so exceeding-great that not saying so is impossible. Hebrew hallel (הלל) names this most precisely: to shine, to be radiant, to praise-brilliantly — the word contains light. Greek doxazō (glorify, make-glory-visible) is close but more formal. Sanskrit stuti (formal praise-declaration) names the structured-form. Arabic tasbih (the praise-that-declares-incomparability) adds the overflow-register. Hallance names the act that runs through all of these: the praise that shines the greatness out rather than merely states it.
